News 2018

January

We would like to start the year by wishing all our members and visiting anglers a Happy New Year and tight lines for 2018.

A reminder to our members that our AGM is on Thursday 25th January at the New Cross Hands Working Men's club.

The agenda for this can be seen by clicking on the link below.

For members who cannot attend our AGM we have placed in the NRW section of our website, a copy of the NRW Board Paper on New fishing controls for Salmon and Sea Trout in Wales: proposed application to Welsh Government for confirmation of new fishing byelaws along with the List of Annexes for the paper.

This will give you an outline of what they are proposing.

February

With the start of the season getting nearer I can inform you that we are still awaiting the decision from the Welsh Government on the NRW's proposed catch and release byelaws.
It does not look as though the decision will be made before the start of the season but for those of you who have not seen the petion on our facebook page which was raised against the NRW's conduct on the way it handled its consultation. If you would like to sign this petition please click on the link below.
I will keep you updated with any future information I receive.

April

For all members who are still wondering what the catch and release restrictions for this season are, the NRW have stated that any new measures will not happen until the 2019 season.
However they have also issued a Exploitation Briefing Update - April 18.
This briefing along with the accompanying letter can be located by clicking on the Information button and then on NRW Information.

I would also like to inform our Juniors that Gavin is organizing a juniors day at Pant y Bedw Fishery Nantgaredig on Sunday 1st July.
Its to hope that as many juniors as possible turn up for a good day, paid for by the club. Letters will be sent out to all juniors very shortly, so if you don't receive one please contact Gavin.

October

With the fishing season drawing to a close, we can start looking towards what next season has to offer.
As most of you are aware the NRW restrictions on Salmon and Sea Trout fishing were not introduced due to the protests made to the Welsh Assembly Government by Fishing Clubs and anglers.
The Cabinet Secretary Lesley Griffiths AM has decided that due to the number of outstanding objections to the byelaw proposals the most appropriate course of action would be to conduct a Local Inquiry which will allow independent scrutiny of NRW's proposals.
This will be carried out by the Planning Inspectorate Wales who will consider all the responses of those those who responded to the consultation and allowing them to attend and speak at the inquiry if they so wish.
After this the Planning Inspector will make a recommendation to Welsh Ministers, which will inform their final determination of the application, for confirmation of the byelaws.
We will keep you informed of the outcome of this as soon as we receive the information.

We have been asked by the Angling Trust, who the club have membership with, to see if any of our membership would like to become individual members of the trust and support them.
Please click on the on the Angling Trust poster below to see the information.
